Tenho ingredients

How to make Tenho

History and origins

There is a Ramen shop called "Tenho" in Roppongi, Tokyo, that serves ramen soup called "drum can" soup. Ramen soup is cooked over low heat for a long time using coal as the heat source, and is also called "Manchurian soup" because it was invented by someone who returned from Manchuria after the war.
The combination of Asahikawa Ramen soup and thick, curly Sapporo-style noodles has made this Ramen shop famous. There is also a unique way of ordering: 1. Firm noodles. 2. Soft noodles. 3. Strong flavor. 4. Light flavor. 5. More fat. 6. Less fat. The standard order is "1, 3, 5."
"Tenho" was founded in Hokkaido in 1974, and his older brother's son runs "Tenho" in Roppongi, while his younger son, who opened "Tenho" on his own, runs "Tentora" in Shiba-Daimon, Tokyo. The founder of the original Hokkaido store passed away, and regular customers have been running Ramen shop in turn.
